三味線の天神を模した、楽器のような「けん玉」。一本の荒木から全て手作りの工程で作り上げる三味線製作の技術をけん玉に用いた。けん玉は遊んでいるときに、心地よい音とリズムを奏でる。そこに三味線との共通点を見い出し、楽器のようなけん玉をデザインした。頑丈で色艶が良い三味線の材木を使用しているので、遊んでいると良い音を響かせる。

This kendama is a musical instrument that resembles a shamisen’s tenjin. The technique of shamisen making, which is an entirely handmade process from a single piece of rough wood, is used for the kendama. The kendama produces a pleasant sound and rhythm when played. This is the reason why we designed the kendama like a musical instrument. The wood used for the kendama is made from the sturdy and shiny wood of the shamisen, so it makes a nice sound when played.

日本の代表的なボードゲーム「将棋」をモチーフにした腕時計。文字盤にはデフォルメされた駒が置かれている。枠の装飾は駒台の形になっており、将棋好きにはたまらない一品。dedegumo（デデグモ）は京都を拠点としている手作り時計ブランドであり、職人がひとつずつ時計を手作りしている。京都の職人が誇る品質の高さ、遊び心あふれ、自由で斬新なデザインに挑戦し続ける時計ブランド。

This watch is based on the famous Japanese board game Shogi. Deformed pieces are placed on the dial. Dedegumo is a Kyoto-based handmade watch brand, where each watch is handcrafted by artisans. The brand is proud of the quality of its Kyoto craftsmanship, and continues to challenge itself with playful, free and innovative designs.

石川県羽咋市にある、日本で唯一の車で走ることができる海岸「千里浜なぎさドライブウェイ」。その砂を利用し、海を身近に感じることができる砂時計としてリデザインした。 海流や地形などの自然の偶然が重なって、流れ着いた砂が細かく均質になる。その砂の大きさは通常の四分の一ほどであり、砂時計に適した美しい砂の形状をしている。

Chirihama Nagisa Driveway, in Hakui, Ishikawa Prefecture, is the only coast in Japan that can be driven on. We used the sand and redesigned it as an hourglass that lets you feel closer to the sea. Natural coincidences, such as ocean currents and topography, combine to make the sand that washes ashore fine and homogeneous. The size of this sand is about a quarter of the normal size, and it has a beautiful shape suitable for an hourglass.

石川県羽咋市にある、日本で唯一の車で走ることができる海岸「千里浜なぎさドライブウェイ」。海流や地形などの自然の偶然が重なって、流れ着いた砂が細かく均質になる。その砂を食べても安全な接着剤で固めて、羽咋市名物の形をしたオブジェをデザインした。「千里浜なぎさドライブウェイ」は年間80万人以上が訪れるが、なかなか地元の経済の寄与に結びついていない。そして現在、千里浜海岸は「羽咋市の町おこし」「千里浜のゴミ問題」「千里浜の浸食」という3つの大きな課題を抱えている。そこで、千里浜の砂を使ったお土産を生産・販売することを通して、3つの課題を周知し解決しようと考えた。

We hardened the sand with an adhesive that is safe to eat, and designed objects in the shape of Hakui’s specialties. More than 800,000 people visit the Chirihama Nagisa Driveway every year, but it doesn’t contribute much to the local economy. And now, Chirihama is facing three major problems: Hakui’s town revitalization, Chirihama’s rubbish problem, and Chirihama’s erosion. So we decided to make these three issues known and solve them by producing and selling souvenirs using sand from Chirihama.

美しい水玉柄や模様を施した、磁器のひねりゴマ。吉田焼の特徴の一つである「搔き落とし」という伝統技術によって、一つ一つ手彫りで模様を付けていく。それにより、このコマは回転すると凹凸に光が反射し、美しい光の輪が浮いてくる。子供でも気軽に遊べるように、良く回る手ひねりのコマにした。急須や湯呑のフタとしても使え、お茶を蒸らす待ち時間などに回して楽しめる。磁器の素材感や造形を追求し、インテリアとしても映えるように設計。

This is a porcelain spin made by the traditional techniques of Kakiotoshi, Yoshida-yaki. Kakiotoshi is a technique unique to draw polka dot. It makes the spin beautiful design and texture unique. The craftmen scrape off a single circle from the color soil using a drill. This technique of “Kakiotoshi” is used to put beautiful polka-dot patterns on the spin. The spin can enjoy a different pattern from the stationary state by spining. You can enjoy this time to steam tea as a lid of a teapot.

奥出雲の原風景の一つである棚田からインスピレーションを受け制作した、一輪挿し。形状は遠くから見ると球体のように見えるが、近くから見ると棚田のように段差がついており光の陰影や奥行きを楽しむことができる。この玉のカタチは玉鋼の語源の一説である、人間の拳大に割られた鋼を「玉」と呼称していたことに由来している。球体にすることにより、静かな存在感と花を引き立てるシンプルさを両立した。素材としては純粋で錆びない玉鋼を使うことで、割れにくく花にも人にも優しい一輪挿しができあがる。玉鋼の原材料である「砂鉄」を採取するために山を丸ごと切り崩し、奥出雲の美しい棚田はその跡地で作り上げられたものであった。

This was a single vase inspired by rice paddies, one of the original landscapes of Okuzumi. Although the shape looks like a sphere when looking from afar, you can enjoy the shadow and depth of light with a step like the rice paddies when viewed from a nearby point. The shape of this ball is derived from the fact that steel which was broken into human fist size is called “ball”, which is a word of the origin of the ball steel. By making it a sphere, it gave us a quiet presence and simplicity to complement the flowers. As for the material, it is assumed to use ball steel if procurement is possible, but substitution with iron etc. is also possible. By using pure rustless steel balls, it is difficult to break and creates a gentle single flower for both flowers and people.
