主に雛人形や五月人形などを手掛ける「江戸木目込人形」の職人によって、国宝「鳥獣人物戯画」で描かれる躍動的な場面を立体化した。胴体にぴたりと添うように木目込まれるので、姿の美しさや動きの面白さがはっきりと出る。素材には手触りの良さと美しさを兼ね備える、丹後ちりめんを使用。表面の凹凸が光を乱反射するため、素材の美しさが一層際立つ。

The dynamic scenes depicted in the national treasure ‘CHOJUGIGA’ have been sculpted by Edo Kimekomi doll craftsmen, who mainly handle Hina-ningyo and May-ningyo dolls. The beauty of the figure and the interest of its movements are clearly expressed as the doll is made to fit snugly to the torso. The material used is Tango Chirimen, which is both pleasant to the touch and beautiful. The uneven surface diffusely reflects light, making the beauty of the material stand out even more.
